Ovaltine pot cake


Ovomaltine pot cake, a fever among Brazilians for the last few years, has made its way onto the menus of confectioners and bakeries.


This small cake invented by Brazilians became another source of income, being easy to make, store and carry.

For our Ovomaltine pot cake:



  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 cup 50% cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 cups sifted wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon yeast


  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water

How to do it:

Ovomaltine Filling

  • Add the condensed milk, cream, powdered milk, Ovomaltine and whipped cream to the mixer bowl. Mix well for about 10 minutes until you have a consistent mixture.1 can of condensed milk,1 carton of cream,1 cup of powdered milk,1 cup of Ovomaltine,500 ml of cold whipped cream
  • Refrigerate for about 3 hours.

Cake batter

  • In a blender, add the eggs, milk, oil and chocolate powder. Blend for about 3 minutes until you get a smooth paste.3 eggs,1 cup milk,1 cup 50% cocoa powder,½ cup oil
  • Then add the sugar and beat again.1 ½ cups sugar
  • In a separate bowl, add the sifted flour and baking powder. Then add the chocolate mixture to the bowl and mix with a whisk.2 cups flour,1 tablespoon yeast
  • Grease a 25 x 25 cm rectangular pan and pour in the pot cake batter. Bake in a preheated oven at 180º C for about 30 minutes.
  • Cut the cake batter into disks or crumble with your hands and set aside in a bowl.


  • Add the sugar and water to a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat.½ cup sugar, ½ cup water
  • Stir well for 2 minutes and stop to prevent the sugar from crystallizing.
  • When it starts to boil, let the mixture boil for another 1 minute and remove the pan from the oven. Set aside.


  • Place a layer of Ovomaltine filling in the pot.
  • Then add a layer of cake batter and spread with a spoon. Moisten with a little syrup.
  • Add another layer of Ovomaltine filling and another layer of cake batter with syrup.
  • To finish, add another layer of Ovomaltine filling and decorate as desired.
